Who are you? Where are you going? Who are you going with? — Sam Keen
Many of us have books that have inspired us, taught us or are just like good friends. I have so many books that have touched my life, the quote above being from “Fire in the Belly”, a book I read when I was working on my father issues, and set an intention to learn how to be a good friend and to have good friends of both sexes, but specifically other men. I pondered those questions of who was I, where was I going and who was I going with, and that helped me so much in healing my “competition” addictions, and learn how to love my brothers. The brotherly love is so important to me, and I am grateful I have a few of these precious people in my life.
As I grow older and approach the “forth ridge of life” the unborn and newborn – gold gate, I begin to search within for what is of deep value to me.
I deeply value Mandi, Jasmine and my relatives and close friends. Tonight is Men’s Drumming, and I so look forward to being with other men to speak from our heart and to heal our wounds together.
I have engaged a new web designer, an old friend who did my original website that appropriately calls herself wonder woman web design. She is converting my site from an outdated front page to word press, and also simplifying the site so that we can put these blogs directly on my site, and have room for you to comment. Take a look at what we have so far by following this link:

and give me your thoughts/feelings.
I journeyed to bear creek last weekend, and booked a soak and massage at the Carson Hot Springs for Saturday – a wonderful gift to give myself. I loved the rains and breaks and the space to just be for awhile to balance the doing and business here in Portland. I learn so much by being in the silence of the natural – so good for my soul. Hope I hear from all who intend to come to my lodge on March 19ths, and participate in the seven week teachings circle “The Teachings of the East”.
Blessings, Patrick

The Teachings of the EAST – Gateway to the Mind
A SEVEN WEEK CONTINUATION COURSE IN THE TEACHINGS OF THE ANCIENT WISDOM OF THE SACRED CIRCLE
The East is the element of Fire, will, the spring and a place of new beginnings. The East brings us the gifts of the child, teaching us to be animated, joyful, and spontaneous. We learn to live each day wholehearted and leave each day clutter free. In these two-hour sessions, we will study and experience the ancient wheels of Native American and of other cultures. Together, we will uncover and recover these gifts:
- Transforming anger into passion
- Light, beginnings, innocence, joy, trust and hope
- The courage of the warrior
- Illumination and vulnerability
- The ability to focus in the present
- Trust in our own vision
- The ability to see clearly through complex situations
- Beautiful speech
- Concentration
- Will and willingness – shifting from “I want/I need” to I will
- Devotion to the service of others
To be held on seven consecutive Tuesday evenings from 7-9 pm
beginning March 22th, 2016.
There is a suggested donation of $150 for the series or $23 per class. No one will be turned away who is willing to exchange time, talent or treasure (please call or email Patrick to make arrangements).
Course taught by Patrick Pinson, M.A., of Mingo heritage and owner of Cedar Mountain Drums. He teaches from a place of knowing, integrating gestalt, play, years of experience on the Red Road and from his personal work with our own issues. This is an experiential class available to all seeking how to integrate the old with the new.
